Coimbatore is a city in India located in the southeast in Tamil Nadu state.  The city is home to nearly 2 million people.  

The city is the district administrative center and the junction of rail lines linking the East and West coasts of India.  A huge marketplace, the common staples bought and sold include tea, cotton, teak, cardamom, and chinchona.  There are also manufacturing plants that process foods, cotton, and transport equipment.  It is also well-connected by road and air.

It's known for its industrial hub, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, fair weather, friendly culture, and hospitality (it is called the city of hospitality ).  The majority of people in this city are polite and well educated.  There is a noted minority of people of West and North Indian origin residing in Coimbatore, affording a cosmopolitan atmosphere to the city.

Many different languages are spoken in Coimbatore, with Tamil, English, Tulu, Gujarati, Kannada, and Kongu Tamil. Coimbatore has a history of being a major center for higher education since the early 1900s.  Coimbatore boasts an agricultural University, a number of government and private engineering colleges, two medical colleges, and a number of science and arts colleges.

Dining experiences in Coimbatore range from rice-based spicy South Indian dishes such as boiled rice, Pongal, Dosai, and Idly. Most eateries in restaurants also offer North Indian foods as well.  There are a host of other types of restaurants including fast food, Chinese, and continental food.
